Sixteen teams – featuring players from St Catherine’s Catholic College, Singleton Heights Public School, Singleton Public School and Singleton Small Schools – took to the playing fields at Civic Park on Monday.
That equated to more than 170 budding young touch stars, according to organiser Raquel Harris.
“It’s the first time we’ve hosted the event, so we catered for junior boys and girls (Years 3 and 4) and senior mixed (Years 5 and 6),” she said.
“We were very happy with the response.
“And, the kids have had a great day.
“Hopefully, the tournament will grow next year.
“We’d like to include the high schools in the future.”

Harris said the competition was a fitting way to acknowledge the contribution of Mick and Debbie Carroll.
“Singleton Junior Rep Touch recently elected a new committee,” she told The Argus.
“The Carrolls were instrumental in kicking that off in town.
“Naming the gala day after them is a gesture to thank Mick and Debbie for their efforts.”
St Catherine’s Catholic College prevailed in the junior girls’ division, Singleton Heights Public School shone in the junior boys’ section, and Singleton Public School grabbed the honours in the senior mixed category.
