Not even the very chilly winter weather could dampen the student's enthusiasm for enjoying the opening of the new facilities nor the opportunity of the cake cutting ceremony.
The playground upgrade was part of a $60,000 Community Partnership with mining giant Glencore Coal.
Glencore Coal worked closely with the SPS P&C President, Nicole Furness, and School Principal, Deanne Brown, to get aged, deteriorated and dangerous surfaces and playground equipment replaced.
The refurbishment included a new outdoor learning space that is a perfect stage area for budding performers, a new astro-turfed netball court, seating and a marked running track.
The space allows for all students to safely enjoy their outdoor sports.
"It was wonderful to see the excitement on the children's faces at the grand opening celebrations. There was a great turnout of parents, carers and friends of the school on hand to join in the fun," said Glencore Community Relations Officer, Tracey Snedden.
"Glencore is proud to be a productive and active member of the Singleton Public School community, and this partnership is a great example of collaboration between the school, P&C, Department of Education and Glencore."
The impressive balloon arch was provided thanks to a slumber party and other events organised by the school's P & C.
